Mutton momo : introduce

Mutton momo is especially made for Mutton and it's Nepalese favourite momo. Mutton momo is non veg momos. The Mutton momo recipe and veg momo recipe is similar but slightly different.Veg momo uses veg items while Mutton momo uses mutton.



You can easily make mutton momo at home by following the method given below.

Before making mutton momo, you need the following ingredients.

S.n      Ingredients/quantity

 1.       Fresh minced mutton (Chopped mutton boneless)

 2        Oil (2spoon)

 3        Chopped spring onion (1)

 4        Onion chopped (1) 

5         Cabbage chopped (1) 

6         Coriander leaves chopped (1)

7         Salt (to taste) 

8         Garam masala (1 spoon)

9         Ginger and garlic paste (2 spoon)

10       Red chilli powder (1spoon) 

11       Turmeric powder (1spoon) 

12.      Green chilli (chpped)(2-3)


Note : You can also use the quantity of ingredients according to your own.


Mutton momo recipe

First we will prepare the dough for momo. For that, take 2cup flour and make dough by adding a little water. I have explained in detail in my old article how to make dough.if you don't know how to make dough, You can check by going to the link below.(Read step 2)

How to make dough


Mutton stuffing (kima):

Now we will make momo filling or stuffing (kima). Now put the chopped mutton in a big bowl. Then add onion, spring onion, cabbage, coriander leaves, salt, red chilli powder, green chilli, garam masala, turmeric powder, ginger and garlic paste, oil and mix all the ingredients well. After 2-3 minutes of mixing, this momo stuffing (kima) is ready.


Now you need to make a wrap / fold for momo.

For that, take the dough made earlier and take a little dough from it, press the dough and make small rounds so that it becomes thin. This makes your momo wrap / fold. You can make it another way. For that, first take a little dough and make it into a big round. Then cut into small rounds with a small bowl or pot or cutter. This way you can make momo wrap / fold. How to make momo wrap



After making momo wrap / fold, take a 1 momo wrap and add  of stuffing (kima) in it. After placing the stuffing (kima) in momo wrap/fold, make the side part by pressing it as shown in the video with the little finger. Do the following. 


Similarly, with your thumb pressing and pulling, move your finger upwards. Don't let go of the old finger. When you press it like this, finish it at the end. And your round shape momo is ready.


Long style momo shape:

It is exactly the same as making round momo but here your right hand's thumb moves forward with the index finger.


Now that the shape of the momo is ready, it has to be steamed.

Heat water in a momo pot to steam. Then put oil in momo placing area in the pot. And put momo in it. Once the water has started to boil, place the momo to steam and cover from above. Steam Momo for 15minutes. After 15 minutes of steam, your momo is ripe. This mutton momo is ready. You can put it in a pot or plate and eat or serve mutton momo with momo pickle or pickle.
