Chamre Bhat

Chamre is the name given to a dish that cooks rice separately. Chamre rice is very tasty. Chamre is made from soaked rice. It is usually eaten as breakfast and sometimes as food. Chamre is a famous Nepali food. Chamre is called sticky rice in English. You can easily make it at home with your family. It is widely eaten as a snack everywhere from east to west of Nepal.


Chamre can be easily found in every restaurant and hotel in Nepal. It may be a little scarce in the Himalayas. Because rice is not produced in the Himalayan region and has to be taken from the Terai region, chamre may not be available in sufficient quantity in the Himalayan region. The chamre place is specially made somewhere sweet and somewhere salty. The method of making whatever is sweet and salty is the same.


Today I will teach you how to make salty chamre. let's get start

S. N.            Ingredients/Quantity 

1.                  Rice(400gm) 

2.                  Ghee(50ml) 

3.                  Beans(100gm) 

4.                  Cauliflower(400gm) 

5.                  Onions(50gm) 

6.                  Turmeric(1 pinch) 

7.                  Salt(1/2tsp) 

8.                  Cunim(1/4tsp) 

9.                  Coriander(1/2tsp) 



Cooking method:

1) Wash and soak rice for 1/2 hour, drain, 

2) Clean and cut beans in dice make flowerets of cauliflower, 

3) Peel wash and slice onions, 

4) Heat ghee, in heavy bottom pan, sputter cumin seeds sauté onions till golden, 

5) Add vegetables salt turmeric dhania powder, stir a while, 

6) Add rice and enough water(800ml approx)  boil, and cook covered, at low till all water is absorbed and rice is done. 




In Nepali style:

Cooking method of chamre 

Now take a pan and put ghee / butter in it. Then add fenugreek. Now add sweet pepper and chilli in it. Now add anadi rice in it. Stir and cook until slightly browned. Once it turns red, add salt (as per taste). Then add 1/3 cup shredded coconut (optional). Now after stirring it, stir it well or mix it. After a while add 1tsp cardamom powder and 1 / 3tsp cup of water.When making this chamre, water should be added little by little. Now cover it and cook for 5-6min. Check once after 5-6min and if it is cooked, it is ready and if it is not cooked, add 1/3 cup of water and cook again. Then it can be cooked.



Tomato ko achar


Grind salt (as par taste), green chilli, small sized ginger and grind it in a grinder. After grinding, add 2 tsp sesame seeds powder, 1 boiled and peeled tomato. Now grind it all finely and your tomato achal is ready.
